Tips To Organize for Summer Safety

Hawthorn Woods, IL (July 07, 2007) - Summer is meant for fun.  Jakoter Health Organizers provide organization tips to keep summer chaos-free.

Have emergency phone numbers readily available to every member of the family.

  1. Emergency – 911
    • Teach children how to dial 9-1-1 and what to communicate
  2. Poison Control
    • For a poison emergency or questions, contact 1-800-222-1222
    • If someone has collapsed or is not breathing, call 9-1-1
    • To find your poison control center, go to http://www.aapcc.org/findyourcenter.htm
  3. Doctor’s name and  phone number
  4. Hospital phone number
  5. In Case of and Emergency Contact names and phone numbers
  6. List of serious medical conditions of each family member
  7. Other local emergency numbers  
    • Police
    • Fire
    • Gas
    • Electric
    • Schools
    • Pharmacy

Carry essential information about each family member – It can be as easy as listing information on an index card.

  1. Personal information - name, address, phone number
  2. ICE - In Case of an Emergency contact
  3. Medications
  4. Allergies
  5. Medical conditions
  6. Past surgeries
  7. Doctors
  8. Insurance information/card

Develop an organized medical action plan and maintain your medication regime.

  1. Know who to call in case of emergency
  2. Be prepared in case a situation arises with a family member having existing conditions
  3. Make sure all family members know the “plan of action”
  4. Keep documentation in an easy place with numbers and easy, step-by-step actions
